LIMEproject’s 7 Day Challenge!
12-28-09 » 01-04-09
So here’s something new for everyone to try during this holiday break; for the next seven days LIMEproject will be posting a ‘challenge of the day’. These challenges are meant to help you help others in an effort to spread positivity and inspiration - the very qualities that LIMEproject exists by.
Hopefully the challenges will not only make someone else’s day, but make you feel great for helping someone out throughout the process. After seven days, reflect upon what you had to do during the challenge week, and see if any of the challenges helped you become a more positive person. It’s not required that you participate in the 7 day challenge either, but as Mark Twain said, the best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer someone else up first.
New challenges of the day are posted at midnight.
for all you poor, poor, apple slaves.
I’m sooo excited to get this project underway! Please keep in mind that my room is only 8’ by 10’ and there’s an almost non-existent budget, so I’m making do with what I’ve got. After reading blogs of efficient workspaces, especially this one, I’ve been inspired to change my computer desk into an area where I can actually do my school work. Here’s the current (12/23/09) set-up:
Starting from the top, the router and modem stand vertically to make way for the outdated HP printer, which I need to buy ink for. As you can see, there isn’t much desk space to do anything. The webcam-perched 22” monitor hogs the width of the desk, barely giving any room for my speakers, and the base takes up a little over half the length. I actually have a laptop with a shot screen and keyboard, so I ended up buying all these peripherals. I’ve got a pull-out keyboard on a closed laptop and my mouse has it’s own little pull-out thing. Underneath all of that, you can barely see that my subwoofer sits next to a pile of books and mail.
To solve my problem, I ordered a monitor arm which would be perfect if it were black. It’ll free up desk space, allow me to rotate my monitor for better viewing while browsing or watching movies, and allow me to move the monitor forward or back if I decide to watch a movie while sitting OR lying down on my bed.
While we await the arrival of my precious desk mount, I’ll be organizing, rewiring everything and hiding all my cables along the steel frames of my desk or in a tube/tunnel. This is just the beginning of the overdue room improvement! Check back for updates coming in 2010, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
